Requiem Aeternam Dona ei, Domine.

Cardinal Edmund Casimir Szoka has passed away at the age of 86. He served as the Archbishop of Detroit from 1981 to 1990, then later oversaw the Vatican government under Pope St. John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI until his retirement in 2006.

Cardinal Szoka's body will be received into the Cathedral at 2pm on Sunday, August 24, with visitation lasting until 9pm A prayer service, the Office of the Dead, will take place Sunday evening at 7pm Visitation also will take place at the Cathedral from 2pm until 9pm on Monday, August 25, with a Rosary service at 3pm and a vigil service at 7pm.

Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, August 26 at 11am at the Cathedral.
